After owning/running every aspect of my business of 20 years, I was ready to close it up. I was burned out to the point of just walking away rather than selling the business. With some redirection from family and friends, I decided to get some other opinions.When I called Utah Business Consultants, I was able to talk to Cal Black, one of the brokers who had recently sold a home health agency, similar to the business I owned. Being inexperienced in anything to do with selling or buying, I was naive. Cal patiently explained the process and encouraged me to think about selling rather than walking away. I can genuinely say that Cal answered every question, fear and apprehension with honesty and kindness. I felt that Cal listened to me and respected my opinions and requests. He had a very clear understanding of what my emotional investment was, having started and ran the business for 20 years. A person can get very attached to their employees, customers, and how they run their business, and Cal's understanding made it so much easier on me. Cal was ALWAYS able to be reached, he was prepared with the right information each time we met with prospective buyers, and he was candid with me about the entire process. I will forever be grateful that I had such a professional and knowledgeable person help me sell my beloved business.Every aspect of the legal paperwork was handled by Utah Business Consultants. Before I signed any of the documents, I had my CPA who is also an attorney, look over the paperwork. He found no issues in any of the documents, and commented that they were thorough.
