The staff at the SBDC is wonderful. I have been working with this office for almost 10 months. My business trajectory has changed a few times, which is normal according to my business mentor. It is very reassuring to have someone with his knowledge to let me know that my situation is not unusual. They have many resources, such as a referral list. The list has business attorneys, CPA's, insurance agents, and marketing advisors. This is very helpful in putting together my financial assumptions. They also offer workshops that are very helpful and saves me money because I would otherwise learn about profit/loss, etc in a college class while paying tuition.

My colleagues and I made an appointment to discuss starting a consulting firm after we finish our degrees. Our business would have very low start up costs and would involve four co-founders. The representative that spoke with us started by telling us that most businesses fail, and it was 90% likely that ours would fail or fall apart within 6 months (this is before he had any idea of what our plan was, who we are, what we do, and what the business would offer). He proceeded to tell us (at length) about all the terrible business plans that had very high start-up costs, which had nothing to do with our business. He handed us a few example pamphlets, but snapped his fingers and whistled at me when I started putting them in my folder (they were not "for keeps" apparently).He also stared at my chest whenever he spoke to me. All in all, terrible experience, and that guy can go f*#k himself.
