I opened an account with the Mahomet branch of FNB on Sept 6th with a bank check. They first put a hold on the check for seven business days, during which time I had no access to my money because it was a new account with no history. Mind you, this is guaranteed money in the form of a bank check, so there was no reason for them to hold it for this long. On the day the funds were finally released to my account on the 15th of September I paid FNB $20 to wire transfer some money to my wife who was visiting with our kids in Virginia. The next day I discovered there were no funds transferred and my online account showed my entire balance was on hold. I went to the bank to discover what was going on and was handed a bank check by FNB and told that their security officer would not process the wire transfer and that FNB had closed my account. The reason given for this immediate and unexpected closure of my account was that I'm currently residing in an RV resort in Mahomet, IL and the address where my wife's bank account was linked to was another RV Resort in VA. Beware RV travelers - this bank is not very friendly to those of us who full-time in our RV's and travel the country. Not only was I never contacted by the security officer to verify any details or ask any questions, I was never called by the bank to explain what had happened - I had to physically go down to the bank to find out they had closed my account. I cannot recommend this bank to anyone who travels to the Mahomet area. Avoid them like the plague.
