My wife and I bought our first home last year and the experience with Equity couldn't have been better. There were of course a few hiccups along the way with the sellers but our Loan Officer, Bill Skerbetz, and his team navigated us to an on-time closing. He worked well with our realtor, Sarah Skeen, and they made sure our questions were answered before they were asked. At our closing, Equity Resources gave both my wife and I a housewarming gift and a week later they sent us an American flag to go out front. Great customer-service, great people.

I have used Equity Resources since November 2016 and until today things were for the most part pretty good once I got past the long time it took for them to get an appraisal done. Today I got a notice the servicing of my loan has been sold to Cenlar, the worst and most corrupt company on the planet as clearly demonstrated by hundreds of online reviews and numerous pending class action lawsuits. Equity Resouces is required by federal law to give 15 days notice and I was only given eight. All I am being given is an address--no new account number, nothing else to ensure that payments will be received and properly applied to Cenlar. With all the horror stories of others who have dealt with Cenlar, I strongly suggest going anywhere else besides Equity Resources since they will just sell your loan to a corrupt company notorious for inflating your monthly payment, buying insurance you already have, or taking money and denying it. I understand that the agreement allows Equity Resources to sell the servicing but doing so to Cenlar is a gross disservice to their customers and we need to hold companies that do this accountable by keeping future homebuyers from doing business with those who are only in the business to resell the loan to Cenlar.

Their underwriters are a joke. They dragged each step of the process along by weeks. They messed up my partner's social security number, which caused another substantial delay. They did not follow up on the employment verification numbers they asked for. The underwriters kept asking for paperwork they had already received and kept asking for more documents, and by the end of a month had still not progressed from the first step. I have been through the housing purchase process before and the entire experience just seemed unprofessional with this company.
