This pos system is great I love it it makes running a restaurant much easer, I get my reports by e mail, I can see progress sales from my I pad at any Time, the hard ware is super durable and nice looking.I want this pruduct to be a 5 star, becouse is my POS but the reason I didn’t give it a 5 star is that I think they can do better and faster upgrades.I send an upgrade suggestion Different levels of permissions to server, bartenders and managers and it was done but it took over a yearOne other upgrades I Suggested is Been able to sell an item at different times at a different price and not having to create different menus to sell the same item at a different prices ( happy hour ) ( daily specials)I worked with other pos systems were you Can program an item to sell at different price at different timeExample Mozzarella sticks 6.99. Regular price 4 pm to 9 pm happy hour 5.00. Well in order to sell it at 5.00 we must have to create a new menu, than we must set time on the menu so that server can’t sell this item before and after happy hour.It would be much easer to just do that to the individual item.Yes I would definitely recommend this pos and cake support please let’s work on this upgrade.Thank you woodreauxs bar and grill Edinburg Texas rio grande valley.

We've had 2 POS systems before we tried CAKE. The very first one we had was already 5 years old so it was running really slow and just couldn't handle what we needed it to do. We upgraded that one to Clover and we had high hopes but it just really didn't work out for us. We had batching issues, the numbers weren't matching, and honestly it ended up making more work for us with bookkeeping. Since we switched, closing and reporting have been so much easier. Everything is a lot easier to keep track of like sales and payroll and it's so much nicer because you can see all that online. It's also easier to add new menu items or move things around and just easier to use in general, especially once we got everything up and running. It's a simple set up and I'd definitely recommend just giving it a try.

CAKE has been a big improvement for us over Restaurant Manager, which is what we had before. I like that it's cloud-based. It makes reports a lot easier. We had to manually print our old reports and these run nightly and we can even access them from home which saves some time in the day to day. The closed cash report helps us break everything down at the end of day and helps with accounting, and we can also see when peak hours are to schedule people. Gift cards are also a lot easier. We now have 24-hour support, whereas before we were basically on our own, so that's made a huge difference. The system itself is pretty straightforward. We were forced to start it on a Friday with no training when our old system crashed suddenly and that was definitely a challenge but we were able to do it. It's also a lot cheaper than most POS systems, so that's awesome for what you get.

We used to run our restaurant old school with just tickets. We find that the computer system lets you have more readable tickets for the chefs and descriptive tickets with tabs for putting in how you want things without the servers having to write everything, so it saves them a lot of time and it’s faster and neater. We use it also to take inventory, and we can see exactly how much we sold each day, which is easier for us. We can also see most popular items and if something’s not selling we can try something different with our changing specials. The workers use it to clock in on our computers and it’s really easy to get that to our accountant. Another thing CAKE did for us that no one else really offers is when we initially put our menu up, CAKE did all the work. They set up all the tabs and modifiers and it was super easy for us which was great.

Conversation Summary/Sample Review:Before we started with CAKE, everything was done by hand so we had to write stuff down which posed a challenge because now you had to know what went on everything and how much things were to charge for extra. There was also no way for us to track anything, really. Now we can track sales of items in general as well as hourly, and there is even an option to track by 15-minute period, which is even greater. Changing the menu is easy and I don’t have to have meetings to tell people about new prices and things, I just give a heads up and then it just shows up on the machine. Customization is super easy, so even if the customer wants something we don’t have in there it's super easy to enter. And then my favorite part is that I can have different printers that send information where it needs to go, so I can send the fryer exactly what they need and the grill what they need which has helped us out a lot. Instead of looking at an order with a ton of information that makes it hard to see what needs to be done, each person can see exactly what they need to do for their part and then have it come together with better accuracy.

I liked the system because it had a customer facing screen. I also didn’t want to buy my own POS system so I could get updates from the software holder instead of getting stuck with outdated software. I like how they do send us updates and try to improve the system, constantly trying to make it better. I do everything remotely so there are a lot of new features that help with that too. I can pull reports quarterly and sales reports, look at tips and do all the payroll without a different system. Everything can be forwarded directly to my CPA. Even though there are things to improve on, I do recommend the system and like it a lot. I was very careful to pick the right one for the flow of the business, it feels right and after 2 years using it, it still feels great.

Before CAKE we were a small mom and pop shop handwriting tickets with no POS system. Having everything handwritten caused issues for cooks and if we were looking for specific item sales, we had to go through every single hand-written ticket to track that kind of data. What attracted me to CAKE was that it was a rental program, so there was not a lot of out of pocket upfront cost, which is really important for a small restaurant. Having reporting capabilities to see what we’re selling and how much has been an invaluable service. I can see our busy hours, how we did last week, all that information is right at my fingertips. I can also change the menu from wherever, even my phone, so I love the fact that no matter where I personally am, I can change prices, add things to the menu, take things off the menu, and check out our sales. Our payroll company can also log in and generate payroll which eliminates the chance of human error and gives them the convenience to do payroll on their time frame. A huge plus is the ability to make changes, additions and deletions on our own without needing someone from Cake to do it. In addition, they are very receptive to our "wish list" and quick with trouble shooting and response to problems. This system truly saves us a lot of time and stress.

We've had CAKE at this restaurant since day one. It’s super user friendly and so far very low-maintenance. I love that it’s cloud based, so there's no worrying about computers going down or something not booting correctly. The system has the complexity built in but it's also still easy to use. We use sales and labor reports to track item sales, which helps with inventory because it gives a direct shot of what we’re using instead of guessing what to reorder or what we might need. It’s easy to update the menu, and a lot of it you can even do from your phone. It just makes the job easier and there are so many things that I don’t have to worry about. I don’t take it for granted because I know better having worked in other systems in the past but if the average user knew the alternative to not having it they’d see how much harder it would be having to do everything by hand. It’s a huge difference.

Working with CAKE versus the old system we had, everything is now on the same screen so you don’t have to switch back and forth. It definitely saves time ringing people up so the lines move faster, especially when there are multiple items in the order with different choices for each item. It’s also easy for the cooks to read the tickets and fill orders with customizations. We like being able to see sales numbers at the end of the day to get an idea of how we did. Having the menu set up the way it is definitely saves time on extra steps completing orders and calculating totals. Overall it’s a great system.

The POS systems we almost bought were way more complicated, there were too many details to make the process a lot less smooth. Before we made the switch to CAKE, the employees complained that the old system was so complicated and had issues with breaking down a lot, which is obviously a huge problem. Now everything is so much smoother and an easier flow. We use the reports for payroll and everything, which helps tailor our offerings to what people are buying. The menu is easy to use and change. I’d love to start using inventory because that would make things a lot easier too. We’ve had it almost a year now and not had one issue at all. It’s been a flawless system so far.
